Program:

THE JEWELENACKER (Sweden)

GUDBRAND AUS LIEN (Norway)

FINA FORVITNA (Iceland)

Recitation: Angelika Tilsner

Piano: Anja Kleinmichel

The narrator takes you on this journey north to clumsy giants in Sweden, to rugged Iceland to Finna Forvitna, who is tested by fate in the end, and to Norway to jolly Gudbrand.

The concise piano pieces are carefully selected and mostly date from the beginning of the last century. The folkloristic echoes from the composers' homeland, like the music of Jón Leifs, which is based on dances and songs from Iceland, give the texts a special atmosphere. Like Edvard Grieg, who wrote some of his Lyrical Pieces, Jón Leifs also studied in Leipzig. The Romantic tradition flows unmistakably into his music. Musical treasures are the miniatures by the Swedish composer Sigurd von Koch and the Regrets by Gösta Nystroem.
